Mango Strawberry Sundae

The proof that eating well and eating what you love were never supposed to be opposites.

Mango Strawberry Sundae ← Back to All Books

When The Biggest Loser Cookbook launched Devin’s national platform, the assignment was simple on paper and hard in practice: take the recipes behind NBC’s hit weight-loss show and make them taste like something you’d actually want, not something you’re enduring.

This sundae is the dessert that proves it. Layers of mango, strawberry, and a sweet, cold finish that reads exactly like the indulgent scoop-shop version, minus the derailment. It’s the kind of recipe that made Bob Harper, who wrote the book’s foreword, and the show’s own contestants believe the food didn’t have to be the hard part.

The book went on to launch an entire NYT-bestselling series. This sundae is still one of the recipes people ask about most.

Mango Strawberry Sundae
Serves 4 · Prep 10 min
Ingredients
  • 2 cups ripe mango, diced
  • 1 cup strawberries, sliced
  • 2 cups fat-free or light vanilla frozen yogurt
  • 2 tbsp light whipped topping
  • 1 tbsp toasted coconut flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp sugar-free strawberry preserves, warmed
  • Fresh mint leaves, for garnish
Instructions
  1. Toss the diced mango and sliced strawberries together in a bowl.
  2. In 4 sundae glasses, layer a scoop of frozen yogurt, a spoonful of the mango-strawberry mixture, then repeat until the glass is full.
  3. Top each sundae with a dollop of light whipped topping.
  4. Drizzle with the warmed strawberry preserves and scatter with toasted coconut, if using.
  5. Garnish with fresh mint and serve immediately.
Devin’s tip: use fruit that’s truly ripe. It does all the work the sugar would otherwise have to do.
